About Me

Chesley Coleman is a first-generation college student graduating in December of 2019 at Savannah State University. She is originally from Atlanta, Ga. At Savannah State University, she majors in mass communications with a concentration in public relations and minor in business marketing. Originally she received a scholarship for biology and eventually changed it to mass communications because she came to realization that mathematics was not her strong suit. She is fully involved and dedicated to organizations in her field including Society for Collegiate Journalists (SCJ), National Association of Black Journalist (NABJ), Tiger’s Roar and Public Relations Student Society or America (PRSSA).

After graduation, Coleman plans on using her bachelor of arts degree to build on her public relations company that she and a colleague formed together in the summer of 2019. Over the past two years, Chesley has worked as a publicist for AmanMagazine, an Atlanta based publication. She also took on the role as an event specialist at a marketing company called ATL Events Group, which is also located in Smyrna, Ga.

Chesley adores traveling and helping others around her. Her ambition to make society aware of their surroundings and gaining knowledge drives her to succeed in the communication’s industry. Outside of the industry, Chesley is family oriented and enjoys playing the viola. She has been playing for over five years and she uses it as a relief from the real world.
